I tried to arrange the siggies in a Trip Around The
World colourway.
Not so easy as there were so many different colours and
tones.
The centre block was by someone who put the coloured fabric in the
centre, and as it was the only 'different' one,
I decided that it would
look great right in the centre.
The colourway, starting from the centre, is
yellow, light blue, pink, green, purple, dark blue, red, dark, brown,
light.
There were eight blocks short of making it 15 x 15, so I used the red
Judie Rothermel reproduction fabric for the missing sqares,
thereby setting
apart four blocks made with American patriotic fabric
.I gave them a special
place in the corners as my tribute to two ladies who inspired all this:
Jane
Stickle who made the original 'Dear Jane' quilt in 1863,
and
Brenda
Papadakis who had the vision and the determination to put the whole quilt in
book form,
so that lots of us could reproduce the original quilt.
Then I
arranged the strips all around in the same colourway, starting with red in the
centre and working towards the corners.
