One of his Bibles was dropped in Jacob's Well in Palestine, as is described in the Narrative of a Mission of Inquiry to the Jews From the Church of Scotland in 1839. My husband read somewhere that it was found later, but cannot remember by whom and when. If anyone has that information I would be pleased to receive the details by email.
Recently Andrew Bonar's Family Bible has been found. In it
are written the names and dates and other details of the births of his
children, and the death of his wife. Also some interesting papers were pasted
into the back and front of the Bible.
