In August 1880 he wrote from Mull
"In this island, where we are at present sojourning, we often see
yachts and vessels trying to cross the Sound of Mull, or sail up it, but they
find there is scarcely a breath of wind, and so they wait, and tack, and watch
and try again.
Are we not in this case? The breathing of the Spirit among
us is so faint and low. Yet I see sometimes all at once the wind rises, a
favourable breeze springs up.
Why may we not look for this in our church?
"Call on me and I will answer thee" "Come, O breath, from the four winds of
heaven, come!"
ANDREW A. BONAR.
