Old Church in Finnieston

Andrew Bonar's first church in Finnieston,
with about 10 people in the congregation.
Very soon numbers were growing
and it became necessary to build a new church.

The new Kelvingrove Church in Finnieston,
used for the first time in December 1878.

Kelvingrove Church

A closer view in November 2006.
It was quite a shock to see it being boarded up,
and very sad to find out that it is now
in the process of being changed into luxury flats.

Here the boards can be seen clearly
in a view from the entrance to the park.

Hebrew words

The words from Proverbs 11:30 "He that winneth souls is wise."
These words were put there to remind people of the reason for the existence of the church, and also in the hope that some Jews
might see them, and come in to worship the God of Abraham.
