Publications

Some of Manton's works were published in octavo from 1684 to 1703.
Five volumes of the works of Manton were published in folio in 1681, 1684, 1689, 1693 and 1701, but these were not complete.

Description of the published works, by William Harris, D.D.

The complete works of Manton were published from 1870 by James Nisbet in London, in 22 volumes.
A 22 volume set was published in the late 1970's by Maranatha Publications, Worthington, PA. There were a total of 1000 sets printed.

Thomas Manton also wrote a preface to the second edition (1658), in quarto, of the Assembly's 'Confession of Faith'.

Letter to his friend Thomas Case, to urge him to publish his "Treatise of Afflictions". Thomas Case (born in Kent in 1598, died 1682) was imprisoned in the Tower for his association with Christopher Love.

Several works and volumes have been republished from 1958, by the Sovereign Grace Book Club, the Banner of Truth Trust (First 3 volumes - 1993), and Christian Heritage.

I hope that all the works of Manton will eventually be on this web site, D.V.
